It has always been thought that loose teeth only occur more often in the elderly, but nowadays more and more young people have loose teeth or even fall off, why is this? What should be done?
The reasons for loose teeth are as follows:
Periodontal disease
Periodontal disease is common in the population, it is the main reason for loose teeth, because of various reasons led to the periodontal membrane long-term chronic inflammatory stimulation, so that the periodontal membrane fibre suffered damage.
This destruction of the periodontal membrane is unable to support the teeth, leading to the appearance of loose teeth.
Injury from external force
In daily life, due to accidental bumps, falls and other situations, which makes the teeth hurt, and some people like to bite and eat too hard food or open a beer with their teeth, which will easily make the teeth loose.
Such excessive external forces damage the periodontal membrane, which affects the elastic fibres between the teeth and the periodontal membrane, resulting in the loosening of the teeth.
Periodontal deformation
Periodontal deformity is usually seen in young people and is caused by degenerative changes in the periodontal tissues, destruction of the periodontal fibres or resorption of the alveolar bone, resulting in loosening and movement of the teeth.
Other dental problems
Some oral diseases or systemic diseases can also cause loose teeth, such as acute periapical periodontitis, osteomyelitis of the jawbone, tumours in the jawbone can also cause loose teeth.
So how do we treat loose teeth?
1、When loose teeth are caused by trauma
If the loosening is mild, anti-inflammatory drugs (spiramycin, lincomycin, etc.) can be taken, but once the inflammation subsides, the teeth can be automatically restored to a stable state.
2、For teeth caused by periodontal disease
If mild loosening, through effective periodontal disease treatment, most will return to normal;
If moderate loosening, in the treatment of periodontal disease at the same time, should also be the loose teeth and neighbouring teeth ligated together, to reduce the load of loose teeth, to prevent the aggravation of tooth loosening.
3、Loosening of teeth during acute attack of periodontitis or apical periodontitis.
Treatment is mainly to control the inflammation, once the acute inflammation is relieved, tooth loosening can be reduced or disappear.
4. Loosening of teeth when the biting force of individual teeth is too large or the biting relationship is abnormal.
Generally, after the doctor adjusts the occlusion, eliminates the occlusal trauma, the alveolar bone can repair itself, and the teeth can be restored to a stable state.
